The Ferret
Learn more about what is happening in the Korean War Veterans Association by visiting the weblog, "The Ferret." In 2006, Korean War veteran Ken Buckley of Bangor, Maine, established the blog to provide insight into the Louis Dechert Administration. Ken Buckley was in the newspaper business before he retired from it. As such, he is an especially succinct writer on the subject of what he perceives to be the wrongdoings of the Korean War Veterans Association, so KWVAFirstAmendment.Org highly recommends that anyone interested in reading some excellent comments on the Dechert Administration visit Buckley's "Ferret" blog. To learn more about it or to sign up, contact KBuc263924@aol.com. His blog is entitled The Ferret for good reason. "Ferrets dig, search, and investigate intensively," he said. And that is just what Ken has been doing since 2003 with regards to the activities of the KWVA at the national level.
Sampling of The Ferret (September 28, 2007):
"Sam Naomi, now another member of the British Korea War Veterans Association, read up on the history of the Liverpool Regiment, and felt disgusted afterwards to think that Leo Agnew would call British soldiers "cowards." He referred to them in a racially disgusted manner as "Limeys." Agnew said he had no record of the L'pool regiment ever being in Korea. He never heard of The Hook, obviously! He probably heard of the Gloucesters, or, the Black Watch - obviously! Seems Dechert likes to surround himself with people who like to spew their distaste for fellow veterans with rotten put downs, and dismissals.
When Agnew questioned my service and doubted that I had served in Korea, as he did with Terry Lyon, I mailed him the response he had sent Terry in which he referred to "all Limeys" as "Cowards." As a "Brit'" who volunteered to serve with the U.S. Marines in 1952, I took great exception to his tasteless and derogatory comments. But why honor such rotten talk by replying to it? If anyone had said anything not even approaching these dirty epithets, he would be signing a Dechert/Szekely removal order. In fact, as everyone is learning you don't have to say much, if anything to get turfed out of this KWVA.
Yeah, I'm disgusted, especially since my father had the honor along with four of his five brothers of serving with honor in those and other famous British (or, Limey) regiments Agnew chose to smear. Dick Buckley is buried in France, not far from the Somme where he was killed in action just shy of two months before the Armistice. He was 18. My father fought in France, and was even gassed during one battle. However, he survived, and was able to become a CD fire fighter during the Blitz, along with my Mother. Frank, another brother was badly wounded during that horrific battle in the Dardanelles. Patched up, he volunteered and was sent into to serve back in trench warfare in France. Wounded again, he again requested to go back into battle where once more he was wounded. But he didn't give up, he tried to enlist during WWII., but was refused on account of his wounds from World War One. Harold, fought in WWI., and managed to escape without wounds and then re-enlisted again for World War II. He landed in Normandy on D-Plus 10. he then went on to fight through France and Germany.
When Agnew called "Limeys" cowards in his gross and insulting e-mail to Terry Lyon, he should be so damned disgusted with himself, he should resign as Judge Advocate. And, so should the rest of them."
